If shuckers, gushers and cow pies leave you in utter cornfusion, read on to learn some of the common Cornhole game definitions.

Remember that each player has 4 cornhole bags to try to toss into the Cornhole. Remember that the basic rules are to get your four cornbags into the Cornhole. There are some tricks and strategies that can help yourself or hinder your opponent, such as creating a Berlin Wall or Shucking the other team.

Air Mail – Tossing your bag so skillfully that it lands directly in the cornhole, never touching the board. (Also known as a Swish)

Ace – Refers to the one point earned for a bag landing anywhere on the board (Also known as a Cow Pie)

Back Door – The art of making a Cornhole by tossing your bag over a Blocker.

Berlin Wall – Toss a couple bags in front of the hole, blocking your opponent from sliders. (Also known as a Blocker if just one bag is blocking the cornhole.)

Cornfusion – Arises when teams cannot agree on the scoring for a particular round. Cornfusion might have to be settled by the cornhole police.

Cornhole – A bag that makes it into the hole by any legal means. Worth 3 points compared to the one point of an Ace.

Corn Patty – Tossing a bag so weakly that it lands in front of the board. (Also known as a Short Bag in some regions.)

Dirty Bag – A bag that hangs off the board onto the ground or that lands on the ground completely.

Four-Bagger – Landing your four bags in the hole unaided from either your opponent’s bags or your own.

Gusher – When a player makes four cornholes in one round. (Can also be referred to as a Double Deuce)

Hanger – That pesky bag that hangs on the edge of the cornhole, desperately wanting to drop in.

Hooker – Hooking or curving a bag around your opponent’s Blocker, resulting in a cornhole for you.

Jumper – Similar to a Hooker, but occurs when your bag hits another with enough force to ‘jump’ over it, landing in the cornhole.

Police – The Cornhole referee. Might be called in to break up Cornfusion.

Shucker – Tossing your bag so that it knocks any of your opponent’s bags off the board.

Slider – Tossing your bag so that it slides along the board and into the cornhole.

This is not an all inclusive list by any means. Different regions will use some different terms. People that play regularly will probably create more of their own terminology, too. No matter what you call Blockers, Swishers and Hooker, keep practicing them so you score more Cornholes.
